CAROLINA PROSPECTS PLAY IN TRAVERSE CITY TOURNAMENT.

Austin Levi, Michal Jordan, and Matt Caria will be playing for Carolina in the 2010 Prospects Tournament and Training Camp in Traverse City from September 11-15. Tyler Brown will play with Pittsburgh prospects in London from September 11-14, while Jamie Devane will play for Toronto in the same tournament.

Robbie Czarnik goes to Los Angeles for their camp starting September 11. Scott Wedgewood heads to New Jersey's camp on September 11.

Tyler Seguin goes to Boston's camp starting September 12. James Livingston heads to Edmonton's camp that starts on September 12.

WHALERS, WINDSOR BATTLE TO 2-2 TIE.

The Whalers opened the pre-season on Saturday, September 4 against Windsor in Chelsea, MI for the "The Clash at the Coliseum" with a 2-2 tie. Stefan Noesen tied the game up with 51 seconds left, while Austin Levi and Rickard Rakell drew assists. In the first period, rookie Max Iafrate scored with an assist from Sean Myers.

WHITES BEAT BLUES IN TRAINING CAMP SCRIMMAGES.

Mitchell Heard's goal at 5:48 of the second half snapped a 1-1 tie and the Whites went on the defeat the Blues, 3-2, in the closing scrimmage during the Plymouth Whalers training camp held at Compuware Arena on Friday.

The Whites scored four unanswered goals in the second half to defeat he Blues, 6-3, during Whalers training camp at Compuware Arena on Thursday.

LEVI TAKES STEPS TOWARDS NHL DREAM.

Two years ago, Austin Levi split time between the Whalers and Compuware Midget Major team. Last season, he kept progressing and was named the Whalers Most Improved Player. In June, he was rewarded by being selected 85th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010 NHL Draft, but Levi knows he still has a lot of work to do before he reaches his ultimate goal.

 

WHALERS AND OHL ANNOUNCE SCHEDULE.

The Plymouth Whalers will open the 2010-11 season on the road and kick-off the OHL season on Thursday, September 23 against the back-to-back OHL and Memorial Cup Champions Windsor Spitfires followed by a game in London on Friday, September 24. The Whalers home opener will be against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Barrie Colts on Saturday, September 25 at 7:05pm at Compuware Arena.

WHALERS TYLER SEGUIN, RYAN HAYES WIN CHL AWARDS.

The Canadian Hockey League announced the winners of 10 awards on Saturday, which included two members of the Whalers as winners. Tyler Seguin was named the CHL's Top Prospect while Ryan Hayes captured the CHL's Humanitarian of the Year Award. They are the first Whalers to win a Canadian Hockey League Award since James Wisniewski was named the CHL's Defenseman of the Year in 2003-04.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE, EA SPORTS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP.

Four-year agreement sees CHL teams part of EA SPORTS NHL 11.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE TO LAUNCH NEW ONLINE NETWORK.
